Gilbert Colvin Primary School

Year 5 Victorian Day

The Year 5 children were lucky to take part in a Victorian Day at school, where they dressed up as Victorians, were taught lessons following Victorian teaching methods, undertook frequent hand inspections and sampled some gruel.

They were surprised how different a typical school day is compared to today and glad that schools do not use physical punishments anymore (although some did enjoy wearing the infamous dunce hat and writing lines for not following Victorian school rules!) A fun day was had by all and the children really enjoyed getting into character. Here are some photos from our day.
