Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to express my deepest thanks to you all for everything that you have done over the past term to help keep life in school as normal as possible for your children. I know that you have had to make quite significant adjustments to your own lives to make this happen and, if nothing else, it has shown how good the partnership is between home and school here at Gilbert Colvin.

It has not been easy, especially for those of you who have needed to keep your child at home because of coronavirus, but despite those challenges, I am pleased that we have been able to keep the school open through to the final day.

I would also like to express my thanks to the entire team who work at Gilbert Colvin who have risen to every challenge and worked tirelessly to support the children and each other. Even though our end of term and Christmas activities have had to be toned down, there has been a real sense of excitement and joy around the school over the past week. Father Christmas has been very busy with visiting the school on Christmas Dinner day and then returning yesterday and today to give the children some North Pole treats! I have been very impressed, and a little jealous, of some of the Christmas jumpers worn this week too! None of this would have been possible without all staff being creative and flexible to make it happen.

I hope that you are all able to have some time to spend with families over the Christmas period although I know that this year it will be different for us all. On behalf of everyone at Gilbert Colvin Primary School, may I wish you all the very best for the holiday and that the New Year brings us all peace and good health.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Hemsley
