Online Safety

At Gilbert Colvin we take the safety and welfare of our pupils very seriously, including how to be safe when using the internet. There are are variety of resources available with tips, games and links to various websites so you know your children can "surf the net" safely.

Additional guidance for parents can be found on the following website and addresses concerns parents may have about the various online activities your child may be involved with.

Each year saferinternet.org.uk promote online safey through various activities, quizzes and resources, and this year Safer Internet Day is on Tuesday 7th February.

How confident are you that your child is taking the necessary steps to safeguard their own safety online? We all have a responsibility to teach them the SMART* rules, so why not ask your child to take the following quiz!

Click here to start the quiz

S SAFE - Keep safe by not giving out any personal infomation to people you haven't met
M MEETING - It can be dangerous to meet people you have only been in touch with online
A ACCEPTING - Emails, messages and opening files or pictures from people you don't know could contain viruses and lead to problems
R RELIABLE - You can't always trust information on the internet. Stick to people you have met and sources you know and trust.
T Tell your parent, carer, trusted adult or Childline 0800 1111 if someone or something makes you or someone you know feel uncomfortable or worried
