Parental Engagement at Gilbert Colvin

At Gilbert Colvin, we value strong partnerships with parents and carers and are committed to keeping you informed and involved in school life. We engage with parents in a variety of ways, ensuring clear communication and opportunities to participate in your child’s learning journey.

We share key updates through:

  • Arbor – our main platform for general messages and emails.
  • Termly Headteacher’s Update Letter – providing information about school developments.
  • Weekly Newsletter – keeping you informed about upcoming events and school news.
  • Website Updates – with important information and resources.

Opportunities to connect and engage include:

  • ‘Meet the Teacher’ Session (September) – an introduction to your child’s class and curriculum.
  • Three Parents’ Evenings – dedicated time to discuss your child’s progress.
  • Open Classroom Sessions & Stay and Plays – a chance to see learning in action.
  • Curriculum Workshops – offering insight into how we teach key subjects and strategies for parents.
  • Monthly Parent Forums – a space to share feedback and discuss school initiatives.

In addition to these opportunities, we offer tailored support to individual families based on the needs of their child.

On this page, you can find key information from parent focused events we have held, including our regular parent forums and workshops. We encourage all parents to engage with the school community and look forward to working together.

Parent Forums and Workshops

Below you'll find slides from previous sessions along with posters for upcoming events.

We're pleased to offer a series of parent workshops this June designed to help families improve school attendance and overcome any challenges with practical ideas. The sessions will be held at school on June 10th, 17th and 23rd from 9.00 to 11.30am and delivered by Lydia Grant, Trainee Educational Psychologist at Redbridge EPS.

This month's parent forum will take place on June 20th and focus on RSHE (Relationships, Sex, and Health Education). We hope to see you there!
